Terms and Conditions
Effective Date: August 31, 2026
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the AssignMint Chrome extension, iOS application, and website (collectively, the “Service”), operated by AssignMint (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By installing, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Eligibility
The Service is intended for college and university students aged 18 and older. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 18 years old and are enrolled at or affiliated with an accredited educational institution. If you are under 18, you may not use the Service.
Description of the Service
AssignMint is a productivity tool that helps students manage academic deadlines by integrating with Canvas LMS and restricting access to distracting applications until assignments are completed. The Service consists of a Chrome browser extension that reads assignment metadata from Canvas LMS, an iOS application that uses Apple’s Screen Time API to block designated apps, and a website for account management, support, and information.
AssignMint is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instructure, Canvas LMS, or Apple Inc.
Account Registration
You may need to create an account to use certain features of the Service. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account information up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for its intended purpose and in compliance with all applicable laws. You agree not to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service; attempt to circumvent or disable app-blocking features through technical means; use the Service to violate the terms of service of Canvas LMS, Apple, or Google; use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or malicious purpose; distribute, sublicense, or resell access to the Service; interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service; or misrepresent assignment completion status through manipulation of the self-reporting feature.
Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality of the Service, including but not limited to software, text, graphics, logos, and design, are owned by AssignMint and are protected by United States and international intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial academic productivity purposes, subject to these Terms.
Canvas LMS Integration
The Service reads assignment metadata, including titles, due dates, and submission status, from Canvas LMS network responses within your browser. The Service does not access your Canvas login credentials, does not modify any Canvas data, and does not interact with Canvas on your behalf. Your use of Canvas remains subject to your institution’s policies and Instructure’s terms of service. We are not responsible for any changes to Canvas that may affect the functionality of the Service.
Changes to the Service
We may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, including features, integrations, functionality, or availability. We do not guarantee that any particular feature or integration will remain available indefinitely. Where reasonably practicable, we will provide notice of material changes that significantly affect paid features.
Third-Party Services
The Service may rely on or interact with third-party platforms, services, software, and APIs. We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their availability, functionality, security, policies, or changes to their services. Your use of third-party services remains subject to their respective terms and policies.
Blocking Configuration
You are responsible for selecting which applications and websites the Service restricts and for configuring your blocking rules appropriately. You should not configure the Service in a manner that could interfere with access to applications or services you may need for emergencies, safety, authentication, transportation, communication, or other essential purposes. AssignMint is not responsible for consequences resulting from your selection of applications or websites to restrict.
Feedback and Suggestions
If you provide feedback, ideas, suggestions, or recommendations regarding the Service, you grant us the right to use and incorporate that feedback without restriction or compensation to you. You are not required to provide feedback.
Account Deletion
If you delete your account, information associated with your account may be permanently deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy and may not be recoverable. You are responsible for retaining any information you wish to keep before deleting your account.
Assignment
You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign or transfer these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction.
No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision or our right to enforce it later.
iOS App and Screen Time
The iOS app uses Apple’s ManagedSettings and DeviceActivity frameworks to restrict app access. The app operates within Apple’s Screen Time sandbox and cannot access your app usage data, browsing history, or content within blocked apps. Apple may change, limit, or discontinue these frameworks at any time, which could affect the Service’s functionality. We are not liable for any such changes.
Self-Reporting Feature
Where automatic assignment detection is unavailable, the Service offers a self-reporting/manual feature that allows you to manually indicate assignment completion. This feature operates on an honor system. We do not verify self-reported completions and are not responsible for any consequences arising from inaccurate self-reporting.
Fees and Payment
The Service may offer free and paid tiers. If you purchase a subscription, you agree to pay all applicable fees. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before the renewal date. Refunds are handled in accordance with the policies of the platform through which you purchased the subscription, including the Apple App Store, Chrome Web Store, or our website. We reserve the right to change pricing with at least 30 days’ notice.
User Content and Assignment Data
You retain any rights you have in information you submit to or import into the Service, including course names, assignment information, notes, completion status, and related academic data (“User Content”). By using the Service, you grant AssignMint a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to collect, store, process, display, and use User Content solely as necessary to operate, maintain, secure, improve, and provide the Service.
Academic Responsibility
AssignMint is intended to assist with productivity and assignment tracking, but it is not a substitute for checking Canvas, course syllabi, instructor communications, or other official academic sources. You remain solely responsible for confirming assignment deadlines, completion status, submission requirements, and academic obligations.
We are not responsible for missed assignments, incorrect due dates, failure to submit coursework, loss of access to blocked apps, or other academic consequences. We do not guarantee that the Service will block every selected app, detect every assignment, prevent all distractions, or operate continuously on every device or browser.
Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT IT WILL ACCURATELY DETECT ALL ASSIGNMENTS OR SUCCESSFULLY BLOCK ALL DESIGNATED APPLICATIONS.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ASSIGNMINT AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, ACADEMIC CONSEQUENCES, OR MISSED DEADLINES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR FIFTY DOLLARS ($50), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless AssignMint and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or related to your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the Chrome extension, deleting the iOS app, and deleting your account. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Any provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination, including provisions relating to intellectual property, academic responsibility, disclaimers of warranties, limitations of liability, and indemnification, will survive termination.
Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Montgomery County, Virginia. You waive any objection to jurisdiction or venue in such courts.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through an in-app notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the Service.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid or unenforceable provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.
Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and AssignMint regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements, representations, and understandings.
